No Apologies, No Regrets
“So this is goodbye.”
She rose with him, silent tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Goodbye,” she whispered.
He stepped close, pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, and lingered there for a breath. “Take care of your heart, Fedora. It’s beautiful. Just like you.”
She closed her eyes, and for a second, let herself mourn the version of herself that might’ve loved him back.
Then he turned and walked away ; not just from the café, but from the fragile almost-love they’d built.
