Strange enough Slade and I could still speak to one another in our minds, our link remained as strong as ever.
“Take care of yourself,” Carter said as he climbed back in the car.
“Thanks, Carter,” I said.
Slade didn’t say anything to Carter, but the look in his eyes told me that nothing good would come of it. Slade was a different breed of wolf. His world consisted of being loyal to me and nothing else mattered to him.
Slade and I walked into the airport and stood in front of the multiple ticket counters. I was thinking of where we should go because we really were on our own now and we could go wherever we wanted. I had no plans to go to Alaska, even if I had family there.
