Cartoon Characters Collage Novels & Stories

Clay nodded at my phone. “Hold your horses.” I rolled my eyes, pulling up the list. “Okay, the others in the cartoon movie were Slightly, Nibs, Chubby, and Twins.” I frowned, not liking any of those. “Ah, here we go. In Hook, there was also Ace. But that’s a no go since that’s my brother. Thud Butt is also a no. We aren’t insulting the puppies.” I shook my head. “Pockets could be cute. Don’t Ask, Too Small, Latchboy, and No Nap were the others. I don’t like those names.” I wrinkled my nose.

Coco hesitated, wondering if she should just leave. Then, she grabbed her bag and took out a notepad and a pen. Coco drew a cartoon character on the paper and handed it to Lucas. "Here, this is for you. I hope you'll feel better." Lucas lowered his gaze to the paper she had handed to him. Coco had drawn a simple cartoon character of him. With a few simple strokes, she had captured his facial features precisely. The eyes bore a significant resemblance to his eyes, allowing others to recognize him in the drawing.

How did someone manage to draw so many patterns on their faces? How did the artist come up with so many childish designs?

It's very satisfying work, so much so that when I'm done with the first brochure, I pull the rest down off the wall and start to go through them one by one. In the second brochure, I make all of them pirates (complete with eye patches and parrots, of course). In the following photo, I give all of them racy tattoos. I make them into clowns and cowboys and mutants. I give them bulbous noses and giant ears and fish lips. By the time I'm halfway through the stack, I've gone through all my usual doodles, but I don't stop. It's childish, maybe, and more than a little bit dumb, but I can't help myself.
