A loud snapping crashing sound coming from outside of the cave ripped Cassia and Willow from their sleep. Cassia grabbed her father’s knife for protection. A monstrous silhouette appeared at the opening of the cave. It was standing on its hind legs. The beast came down on all four legs and sniffed the air. A deep agonizing huff came from the beast. Its breathing was labored. It pushed its way through the vine curtain at the opening. An enormous chocolate brown bear entered the cave. Its fur was covered in blood and it had multiple battle wounds. along with the wounds it had a dagger sticking out of it’s back. The beast collapsed on the floor of the cave heaving, struggling to catch its breat

"Berserker needs to eat." Knowing I should just leave it alone, I asked the question. "Berserker?" Asher gave me a toothy smile. "My bear: Berserker. Your tiger is Junior. Taryk's panther is Smoke. She let out a deafening growl that shook the room and attacked the beast, hitting it hard in the face. The beast tumbled backward but managed to lift its legs and tried to hit me in the face, but Cara was quicker. She jumped on the beast and bit its back, yanking out a pound of flesh and then spitting it out. Great, I wouldn’t have wanted to taste the beast inside me. The beast roared again and slammed itself into me, pushing me hard against the wall. Cara let out a deafening growl and tried to push back, but since this was only an illusion, it didn’t improve the strength of Cara, only the size.

Both of them have a strange ethereal glow, and it’s clear to me that they belong to a realm different from the earthly one. “Greetings,” says the wolf in a gentle female voice. He, too, tips his head to say hello, then takes his place at Zach’s side.
