Catching Fire Haymitch Quarter Quell Chapter Novels & Stories

In the flickering light of the fire, Ellie sees the fireballs have appeared to turn the four corners of the carpet a thick metallic black color where they have exploded. Ellie tries to turn and run once again as she quickly jumps to her feet, hoping to escape, but Missy quickly snatches her by the arm. Ellie tries to struggle, tries to fight back, but Missy is too strong, Ellie too weak; her head feels all dizzy and fuzzy from the sheer impossibility of the events that are taking place, and maybe from the potion Missy forced her to drink earlier.

After a tense silence, Thomas finally sounded utterly defeated. “That’s enough! Stop! The rescue team is already on the way! “Just… go around, don’t come this way.” I exhaled sharply and yanked the wheel, turning the car around. I had gambled right. However, moments of relief were immediately replaced by a wave of heat even stronger than before. Smoke burned in my lungs, and all I could hear was the relentless crackling of the fire. I fought to control the car, spinning through flames and smoke, gripping the wheel with every ounce of strength.

A burst of fire shoots out of me, but it’s nothing like the one on the roof after I gained my memory. It’s controlled and I’m ready for it this time. Flame shoots off in six directions wrapping the soldiers behind my family and lighting them up in fire. Their shouts echo throughout the field, as the fire licks up their chains and burns it away. All six of them fall to the ground. The chain around my wrist snaps, and I fall to the ground, catching myself in a kneeled position. My head snaps to Mitchell, his eyes wide with shock, and the battle begins again.

She waved her slender hands toward the gaping void, and the flames she had just devoured were promptly expelled back. Having accomplished this feat, she casually tore her skirt and banded the tear in the void as if repairing a minor inconvenience. Then, she dusted her hands and returned to James’ side. Harper smiled charmingly and said, “While they cower before the flames, we embrace it. This type of fire is likely unfamiliar to you, right?” James responded with a calm smile. “I’m awaiting your explanation.” Harper responded, “Without us, they would be trapped in here forever. Anyway, Quentyn and Quintus got involved.”

I stammer, my voice trembling, desperate to hold it together. Kevin steps forward, but his eyes stay fixed on the floor, unable to meet mine. His hand grips the back of a chair, his knuckles white. “Hollis... he went into the warehouse after Summer. The place was rigged to explode. But he didn’t hesitate. He just went in. He shielded her from the fire. He’s lucky to be alive, but Hailey... he’s in bad shape.”

Her thumb hovered over the button. Liam’s eyes widened. “Helen, don’t.” Her voice was calm, serene. “The past has to end somewhere.” I barely had time to scream before the ground beneath us exploded in light and sound. The chapel behind her erupted, fire tearing through the night sky. The force knocked us both off our feet, the heat searing my skin as I hit the ground hard. Debris rained down around us, smoke filling the air. My ears rang, my head spinning. Through the haze, I saw Helen standing amid the flames, her face illuminated in orange light.

“Trap us in here.” Smoke curled thick and fast, choking the chamber. The fire spread with terrifying speed, flames licking higher, heat searing my skin. My lungs burned as I coughed, clutching my belly tighter. Kael’s head whipped toward me, his eyes flaring. “We move. Now.” He grabbed my arm, hauling me toward the broken wall where Darius had entered. But more hunters appeared, blocking the gap, their torches blazing. Behind us, the fire raged hotter, smoke turning the air black.

“We don’t split up. No matter what.” They both nodded. I took another step, my pulse pounding. And then I saw it. At first, I thought it was just the shadows shifting. But then the faint orange glow grew brighter, flickering against the night sky. My stomach dropped. “Zed…” Hailey’s voice cracked as she pointed with a trembling hand. Flames. The warehouse was burning. “No.” The word tore out of me, raw and broken. My legs moved on their own, sprinting forward as the fire roared to life, swallowing the building whole. Smoke billowed upward, thick and suffocating.

And when he growled like a hungry beast, the fire grew. “There goes our answer. It’s far from over, brothers,” Onyx said in a gruff voice when His Grace vanished. We were still busy getting up when Katniss dashed out of her room. She must have awakened from the fire. “Where is he?” she asked. We threw a glance at each other. Finally, here she was, the devil’s leash. “We will help you find him,” I told her. Katniss bolted out as if she understood.

It would burn first once the match is lit,' Fareedah says. Saelyna purses her lips, the way she does when she's getting impatient. 'If this book is as…regnant as she says,' I point out, 'Then it would not easily be discarded, would it? I just say we cast around for it'. Fareedah takes a look at Saelyna, a hint of worry lining her brows but she nods all the same and begins scanning the surroundings. 'Hares, I hope this is worth it,' Quain grumbles and turns back to the ground. 'You don't have to do this, you know,' Saelyna says, 'Any of you'. 'Yet,' Fareedah replies, picking up a slab of wood with a thoughtful look, 'Here we are'. 'Where's your joy, Quain, it's just like hunting for walnuts!'
