For a brief moment, I could almost see the younger Suzanna smiling at me again, clean and bright like the rising sun. Then the loud cry of a newborn rang through the room, followed by tears and joyful laughter, and the fading image disappeared. I lowered my head and looked at my gentle wife and my beautiful son. Slowly, a relieved smile appeared on my face. At last, it was time for me to let go.

Despite the pain, i had to insert my finger in the wound just so I could stop the spread of the poison. I screamed as I ran away. When I was getting far, I heard a loud thud. Another thud and another. I heard a loud growl behind me. i turned around and saw Lane running to my direction. I hitched my breath. I pulled out my finger from the wound. I got the bullet but the poison must have spread already when I felt my knees lost balance and I fell. I blinked a couple times, trying to stay awake. My eyelids were getting heavy. I saw Lane nearing and it was the best view I could have before my eyes gave up.

He struggled in my hold but I didn’t let go, gathering every bit of energy in me and sinked my canines harder until I felt him go limp in my dead. Dead. His body fell to the ground with a heavy thud, unmoving. Jake rush towards me just as I shifted back with the last energy I could gather, falling into his arms. “Let go. Everything is fine now.” He whispered and just like that, my eyes shut close, allowing darkness engulf me with one last thought in my head. Everything is fine now.
