So I forced it back.
The shift rippled through me, violent in its urgency. Bone snapped, muscle shrank, fur seared away until I stood on two legs again, sweat sliding down my temple. The night was cold against my bare skin, but none of it mattered. The only thing that mattered was my woman in front of me, who seemed to be falling apart.
“Elara.” My voice came softer this time, human. I had shifted back to my human form.
And then she was moving, or no, collapsing forward straight into my chest.
