I chose to make Charlotte flawed because I wanted to take a different route to create her. A lot of the novels I’ve read online choose to make their female protagonists the epitome of what some people consider all the good qualities a woman should have: they are kind, relatable, selfless, sometimes to a fault. They let their antagonists step all over them until later on in the story, they gain confidence and step up to the situations life puts in their way.

I know there's something to that name,Angela thought. “Can you describe Diana?” Courtney looked at her then shrugged. “Sure," Courtney said, taking a moment to gather her imaginations of the said lady. "Diana is a complicated person. On the one hand, she's incredibly charming and charismatic. She has a way of making people feel special, of making them feel like they're the only person in the room. On the other hand, she can be quite manipulative, and she's often selfish and selfcentered. She's the kind of person who always gets what she wants, no matter what it takes."

He can't get me with that petty attitude. Yes, I get it, you're an undeniably handsome man. And I would assume that through his actions… women will most likely fall for him. But I really don't see myself spending the rest of my life with him. He is very manly and arrogant but not actually boastful, there's a fine line separating the two characteristics. Charismatic is probably the right word for him as a whole. I shook my head at myself. Never focus on a man's every detail because you will eventually fall for him, Athena.

To some degree, we’re all like this: fundamentally flawed, but doing our best to make life better. Instead of painting the characters in the novel with these simplistic brushes, I tried my best to instead show them as varying degrees of Selfless and Selfish. It’s out of these two traits that we can determine all sorts of ideologies. Add on top of that each characters’ dreams and desires, and we get a much better sense of who they are. Do they lean left or right on the political spectrum? Are they about helping others or profiting off them? When they kill, do they do it to protect, or out of greed? Are they making other peoples’ lives better, or only making their own life better?

The closest trait relatable to me, that the majority would approve - nerd, quiet, few friends, and scrawny. The clock struck ten minutes earlier for my class, I lowered myself to my seat and spread my legs across the floor, and my posture, slouched. Punctuality was one of my best traits and provided me the time to drift my thoughts of insignificant predicaments that I internally devised. Other students mingled with their friends, for there have several of them. But me, I am fine on my own, daydreaming and overanalyzing.

They have strong personalities but poor brains. They are incapable of fulfilling their goals; instead, they rely on power and influence to climb the corporate ladder. They are familiar with the characters, recalling their demeanors and lives from their time as the main characters ‘house and work companions, and indirectly involved in the main characters’ agony.
