I spin around and march out of the dungeon. “Alpha-“ Tate begins. “We’re heading back.” I thunder, shifting. I howl, so loud it feels like it tears the air apart, and I race back, in pursuit of my mate.

He freezes. The motion is sudden enough to throw me forward. “What is it?” My pulse spikes again. Chase crouches like a diver and reaches under the bed, and I watch his fingers close around something small and metallic. He stands, holding it up between us before it catches the light. “Recognize this?” he asks. I lean forward and narrow my eyes to get a clear look when the image hits me like a cold wind. “The bracelet.” My breath catches as the memory of where I saw it comes rushing back.

And then my whole body froze. Everything happened so fast that my frown deepened, and as soon as I realized what was going on, I started chasing the thief. "Hey!" Running after him, I screamed, "That's mine!" The paper Damon gave me was also in that bag. I need to get it back and fast; he can't take that from me. I refuse to lose it to anyone. I watched him jump into a hole, and without much thought, I did the dumbest thing ever. Maybe I should have thought twice before following him, but I didn't; I jumped straight into God knows what. "Hey!" There was no light anywhere. "Give that back!"

Run my fingertips over its surface. I feel the slight groove of years of ware. The tiny scratch on the bottom of the wolf’s tail. Tiny imperfection that only I knew of. A wet lump rises to my throat. “You…you got it back.” I say nearly soundlessly. “It’s only right that I return this too its rightful owner.” He says softly. “How?” I croak out. “I had a few of my best trackers hunt it down. They are very good at their job. Money tends to grease the gears of success better than any other incentive.”

I don’t know what she’d do if she finds out, but again I wasn’t going to give her any chance to find out. I had been stalking her for days now. She was the most gorgeous woman I had come across. But her repulsive nature irked me. She was fucking mine and she still didn’t get that! I had to do something. Something before I lose her. I had six months left. Six months to claim her has mine completely. I didn’t want her to go. She belonged to me. She was mine to ruin, corrupt, and destroy! I tried. I froze. Had they been involved since that long ago? I was the only joke here. I'd already failed in my mission, and I was on the cusp of leaving, so what else did I have to lose? I had always been someone who repaid my grievances as they came, and the only reason why I'd been holding myself back was only because I loved Shane far too much. As it happens, Eve's words ended up becoming a match that lit up the fire! With a bitter smile, I forced myself to my feet, before swinging my palm as hard as I could at Eve's face, with every bit of energy I had left.

I gasped, my eyes widening in shock as I gazed at the one thing I thought I had lost forever. "I would never have found you," he finished, his eyes glinting with triumph. "Give that back to me," I said, reaching up to grab the necklace, but Nicholas stepped away from me, keeping it out of reach. I felt a surge of desperation, my heart racing with anxiety. "I need it back. It's very important to me," I said, my voice coming out as a plea.

But the words are almost painful to leave my mouth. I swallow harshly and I starighten myself as I stare down the narrow path that leads back to the market. I dread going back, but I need to get my hands back on her before anyone else does. As much as I don’t want to admit it, she was not safe if she was out of reach. /Chase her!
