Opening my mouth, I tell him that I don’t believe that…but something in his eyes makes me stop. I sigh. “ I want you to do something for me. ”

“If Shaw was even in the area, this is his cover to disappear completely. “And maybe that phone too.” I take a step back, clutching my bag tighter. “I don’t want any trouble,” I say carefully. “Well, you found some,” the shorter one sneers, taking a step closer. Before I can react, the taller one lunges, grabbing at my arm. I scream, stumbling back as I try to pull free. It’s just like before. Trapped in an alley, my heart racing, ears ringing. It’s like I’m there all over again. “Let her go!”

After the call he turns to me. "I have updates for you." he says. I look at him interest as he moves to the gallery in his phone and then shows me a photo of a person standing outside a vehicle, "This is the vehicle and the person who followed us that night. I have a closer photo. Do you recognise him?" I instantly recognise Chase with his noticeably blonde hair. I look down at the photo in disappointment, wondering why he did such a childish thing. If I had stopped or he caught up to me that night, what would he have done? Was he chasing me to do some danger?

My heart jumped a beat. "So..." He looked up, his eyes meeting mine. "We weren't the only ones here." It remained quiet. Carl's eyes remained fixed on the footprints. He crouched again, brushing his fingers lightly over the damp soil. "What is it?" I asked. He didn't answer immediately. Instead, he stood and looked toward the road. "They weren't trying to break inside," he said. I frowned. "Then why were they here?" "They were watching." "Watching who?"
