Chasing My Runaway Wife
My eyes scan every face, desperate to find her.
Someone taps my back, and I turn around immediately, thinking it’s my wife, but it’s grandpa. He hands me a picture of Sloane to make it easier to find her. I take the picture from him, and my heart squeezes painfully. This is the picture we took on our wedding day. She looks so happy and pretty. I caress the picture and stifle a tear threatening to drop.
I ignored my wife. I made her leave. All I need is one more chance to make things right again. I feel grandpa’s hand on my shoulder, and he gives me a reassuring look.
