“That was why I helped you save face… I wish you luck.” With that, she finished her drink in one smooth motion and set the empty glass aside. She took a few steps away, then suddenly stopped. Turning back, she looked at me once more. “And the pen,” she added. “Thank you. I truly like it.” Then she left. I smiled, and bowed slightly in her direction. I watched as Eunice Heather walked out of the hall without sparing anyone else a glance, without pausing to entertain another conversation… just like a regal queen would.
