A sudden, sharp memory flashed behind my eyes, so vivid it made my stomach churn. We were twenty-one. The apartment didn't have heat, so we were huddled under a single, tattered blanket on the hand-me-down sofa, Lauretta was laughing, her beautiful, unpinned hair falling over her shoulders as she fed me a cold, greasy French fry from a paper basket. I couldn't help but laugh because he didn't strike me as a foodie. The staffs were efficient and the food came in no time. The aroma alone had my mouth watering and Xavier noticed because he laughed out loudly, then said, "and you're yet to try it" True to his words, the food was delicious. I can smell his cologne as I start to pass the group to get to the instrument room. *Fuuu-uuuck* this guy just did it for me.

Declan's mouth watered as his eyes smiled at the food on the food cart. I don't know how the fuck he could be hungry with the whole place smelling like inside a rotting corpse. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up when I heard the carnival anthem playing. "Step right up! Step right up! Zombies and ghouls, banshees and golems!" A fat clown announced as his crooked lips fester into a frightening frown. We paused as he continued. "Step right up and try something new! That's right folks, we're tasting new things today." It pointed at us. I jumped to the side, making sure his nasty finger was pointing directly at Declan.

He went completely white and if Meredith wouldn’t be there to hold him he would have fallen on the floor. “Will you shut up, father?” Carter said and came to Max , taping his shoulder. “No one will take your mate. He was just joking.” and gave an ugly look to the old man. “What are you doing old man?’ he asked grandpa “Do you want to start a war here?”

Chester heard her speak as soon as he opened the car door, so he turned around with a burning gaze. Charity became annoyed. “Why must I be the one wishing for you to return? Will you do it if I ask you to?” “Yeah.” Chester nodded. “If you ask me to do it, I will.” “If I ask you to eat poop, will you do it?” Charity asked sarcastically in spite of herself. Without hesitation, Chester answered, “Yes.” “...” ‘You win.’ Charity snorted. “Go ahead and eat it then. I won’t be satisfied until I see poop on your mouth.”

She just patted my chest and tossed me a wink of her own. Chris had already assembled the snack cart. Elle had mentioned that they upgraded the popcorn used in their pack to a snack cart, and everyone who joined the interrogation party thoroughly thanked Chris for his brilliance. Yeah, Chris did not need a bigger ego than he already had. It was a damn good thing that he got Charlene for a mate because she kept him grounded.

The sweatpants look ugly and buggy on me. But Seven is always gushing and gasing me up with sweet lies. Nathan's mouth watered when Coal placed a plate in front of him with a large juicy cheeseburger, twice-baked potatoes topped with melted cheese and green onions. “I don't know if you like sour cream, but here's some if you do,” Coal said as he slid the tub of sour cream toward Nathan before walking around the counter and sitting beside him. When Coal's large form sat in the chair next to him it made Nathan feel so tiny. He thought he looked like a child sitting next to an adult when sitting next to the large bear shifter.

I smiled to myself, glad that she hadn't seen through my excuse, at least not yet. As I approached the cart selling hotdog skewers, a man who looked to be in his early twenties popped out from behind the cart, a wide grin on his face, "Hello, beautiful! What can I get for you?" He asked cheerily, tipping the tennis hat on his head and bowing gracefully. I flushed with embarrassment, looking down at the floor. I should have known better than to approach him alone. "Um…"
