Luckily, every clan usually followed the same set of millennia-old laws. Anyway, I got into the library and browsed through the books. But as expected, none of them piqued my interest. There was almost nothing from any topic that an old vampire like myself didn't know of. Out of nothing but sheer boredom, I waltzed to the shelves reserved for science-related subjects and picked up a chemistry textbook. I opened it, skimming through its pages and fact-checking how accurate it was based on the knowledge I had. However, a voice caught my attention, causing me to raise my head.

The usual genres one would expect to find at a book fair, too: history, fiction, non-fiction, folklore, fantasy, fairytales… everything. I had wondered and hoped that I could find the fiction book about the female alpha, but there was nothing of the sort to be found. I would rummage through the boxes each day, hoping to find something, but nothing. Nothing at all. Picking up a large pile of books from a box, I strolled towards a table that was getting empty to fill it up again.

Neither one spoke for a few moments; they simply stared at one another, at a loss of what to do next. Rick cleared his throat again, and that seemed to break the spell. “I’ve got spy thrillers and murder mysteries over here, by author,” he managed, gesturing to the right. “Next sections down the right side are sci-fi, romance, and the other fictional genres. Left side is all the nonfiction, biographies, and so on.” Faith chuckled.

It was heavy. The cover was a deep, matte navy blue. In the center, embossed in gold foil that caught the afternoon light, was a simple line drawing. A door. With a lion's head knocker. The entire hall smells of old books and bleach. Row after row of neatly lined books with their spines facing outward, colour-coded with dots, fiction section arranged in alphabetical order. She scanned slowly until her eyes met Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's "Half of a yellow sun". She took it out, and then went behind in search of a place to sit and devour the book.

I had so much time on my hands I could read every one of these books. I found three that sounded interesting then went to the cafe for a watermelon lemon water, I never heard of a drink like that before. I found a nice big chair on the outside patio and opened my first book. It immediately pulled me into the story. It was an action adventure that followed the life of a strong Beta devoted to his pack. He had to marry a fairy to bring more protection to his people. This book said fairies had magic that seeped out of their pores, making any submit to their wishes. It was a fictional tale so I wasn't sure if anything was true, but it was an exciting adventure.
