“Why aren’t you reading that at home in peace and quiet?” The woman glanced at me over the rim of her glass, her eyes a piercing green that seemed to reflect the neon lights flashing around us. “The noise helps,” she replied, taking a sip of her drink. “It reminds me that reality is always there, no matter how much I try to escape into fiction.” I tilted my head, curious. “What’s the book about?” She glanced at the cover, running her finger over the worn edges before answering. “It’s about a woman who was reborn to get revenge on her cheating husband. He betrayed her, and in her second life, she’s determined to make him pay.”

“If your room’s a complete dump, Zeke, I won’t be surprised. You look like the type to hoard a vast amount of mismatched socks and massive, soul-crushing secrets.” He rolls his eyes, opens the door— —and my breath catches, freezing the retort on my tongue. It’s bright. Too bright. The walls are a soft, pale white, the curtains a gentle yellow. The room is immaculate. Clean. Organized. Cheerful, even. Like a child's. How strange? She took it immediately, having found her next read, she skipped out of the library and back to her room. She sat curled up in bed by the window, lunch was served by a servant as promised, she ate and stuck to get book. This book, titled, 'The Wolf Within' she had never really read anything like it. It seemed more like a fictional write up, than a history book. It talked about a wolf that was embedded into the souls of 'special people'

He grabbed his coffee and leaned on the counter watching me as I grabbed the mug and led it to my lips, taking a sip out of it. He hated black coffee, we both knew. But he had tasted it just for my sake just because I told him about the poison thing the day before. And I was kind of glad to see him do it.
