SELFISH AMBITION
Zach immediately cracks up too, and just like that we’re both laughing like we used to back in high school.
Before I can catch my breath, he scoops me up like I weigh nothing and tosses me onto the couch. He throws a blanket over me, then chucks the bag of Cheetos at my chest.
“Eat up, you little hobgoblin,” he says with a grin.
I’m still laughing when I shoot back, “I don’t know if I’m running from the devil or if you’re trying to kill me. I haven’t eaten this stuff in years.”
I rip open the Cheetos, take a big bite, and chase it with a swig of cherry coke. The combination hits me instantly. “Oh, but the devil would be jealous, wouldn’t he? Just for tasting that.”
