Alpha Nox
I quickly made myself a cup of coffee, took a drink, then grabbed the note.
It was written on an old scrap of newspaper, which was odd to say the least. I turned it over in my hand and stiffened. The gulp of coffee I’d taken sat in my throat like a hot coal, burning my esophagus as I stared down at an old photograph of Silas Whitlock.
Most of his face had been scratched out with a black pen, but I could still make out traces of his square jaw, beady eyes, and closely shaved head. The longer I stared at his face and muscular build, the more I recognized the picture.
