"You look like a college girl. Is it for a research paper?"

Two of the reviews are the kind that a first-time author does not anticipate receiving — serious and specific and written by people who have read it rather than read about it. The third review is in a financial publication and is largely concerned with the Blackwood Holdings story as a corporate narrative, which is not the book I wrote. The book club ladies were in fine form this afternoon. They are trying to take you down because they don’t want you to take….” I drift off, recognising the open book on the table, the one Maddox had written about me “Why are you looking at that?” Christian follows the direction I am looking in “It is quite useful actually” “How is a book about me useful?” moving around the desk to look at it, the pages are open to ones I hadn’t read, it was literally like a diary account of me growing up but Christian snatches it away from me before I had a chance to read anything other than dates.
