"Hi," I replied, stepping in and letting the door close behind me. It smelled like moldy pages and old dust. The familiarity of it settled my shoulders. "Are you looking for something?" I gulped. "Do you have anything on Christian theology?" The eager older woman nodded, "I sure do. A whole section in the back." She scurried behind the desk and waved an arm to show me to the section. "You look like a college girl. Is it for a research paper?"

Besides, she was almost done with the atonement child when I walked in earlier. Her current book was titled, a vessel of honor. Written by a renowned christian writer, Rebecca Brown. A devoted christian who was willing to go through hell for the kingdom's sake. Her story had never ceased to amaze me, as not everyone who calls himself a christian is willing to go through that much for the kingdom. Most prefer pleasure to actually doing the things of the kingdom and it's really saddening.

Stan’s expression light up the moment I mention my book. "Wait, you were the writer of ’Live your life?’ That book was a philosophical breakthrough; it was able to speak the truth about the flaws of our society. It was a real eye-opener. I am a big fan," His confession makes me gleam. I didn't even know that he's a reader of my books. "Why, thank you. People always got angry at me because of how ’contradicting’ it was because I am a Christian," I explain.

I called again, moving toward the door but I got no answer. This guy is not only a nerd, he is also weird and somehow crazy. I wonder how I was going to cope with him when I joined his book club. I grabbed my phone off the table and unlocked it. As the screen popped on, messages flooded in. A few days ago, he sent me fifty pre-release books. Romance novels, of course. Top-notch titles that weren’t supposed to hit shelves for months, yet somehow Christian had gotten them early. I’d binged through almost every single one. They gave me a peace I hadn’t felt in weeks, curling up in their stories, forgetting my own.
