His hands fell to his sides, fingers curling slightly as he gathered his courage. “I know we talked about doing a movie night,” he began carefully, choosing his words with obvious effort. “And I was hoping… since tomorrow is Christmas Eve… maybe we could do it then?” He swallowed, nerves threading through his voice. “That way, I’d get to wake up with you both on Christmas morning.”

While Sandro is just standing on the side, just on his signature half-smile. "Oh my, thank you! I didn't expect this," Demie beamed, smiling from ear to ear. She then closed her eyes and thanked God for everything. "Merry Christmas everyone!" Demie greeted them after she blew the candle. The look on Demie's face is priceless. "I'm back with Taren." Taren extended his hand. "It's nice to see you again." "The pleasure is mine," Mr. Cummings replied, shaking his hand. "What can I do for you today?" Taren glanced over at Kiki and then turned back to the man who looked so much like Santa Claus. "Christmas presents." "Christmas is over," he replied. Taren nodded, his lips curling into a smile. "Yes, but we didn't get to celebrate properly, so we're going to make up for it tonight."

One soft click. The picture came out tasteful but teasing, enough to make him grin. She smiled, selected Darren’s name, hit send. Then tossed her phone onto the bed and poured herself a glass of cheap red wine. Next week, she'd have her bags packed, ready to head to Maysville, the small town she'd grown up in for Christmas. Her holiday plan was just perfect! Her playlist hummed to life; jazzy, lazy Christmas tunes filling the air. For the first time all day, her shoulders relaxed. Arthur and I join the others in the living room, where a beautiful Christmas tree stands, twinkling with lights and ornaments. I chose The Santa Clause. Wilder and Wyatt passed on picking movies, because it was late and they wanted Grandpa to have a turn. He pulls out his movie from his pocket, handing the DVD to Wyatt. Grandpa Mick has Jacks now, holding him close and I love the sight. I pull my phone out and take a picture.
