Dirty Christmas
The snow was coming down in thick flakes as I pulled up to the sprawling mansion on the hill, my delivery van skidding a bit on the icy driveway.
It was Christmas Eve, and I was running late, way late, for this “special order” pickup.
The client had insisted on discretion, something about a last-minute gift for his party. I adjusted my uniform cap, the red and green logo faded from too many shifts, and grabbed the insulated bag from the passenger seat.
My name's Mia, by the way, and at 25, delivering fancy foods for rich folks was just a way to pay the bills while I figured out my real life.
