I sighed as we watched, “What’s wrong?” Chris asked; I shook my head, but Chris was not about to take that for an answer. He paused the movie and straightened up, waiting for me to talk to him.

Demie immediately made them behave, three of them are her kids and the other two are Aly’s. “Hey, don't fight. There’s names labeled on each gift, here look,” Demie took a gift from his daughter Dessandra, the youngest. She showed the name listed below and saw that it was for Aly's daughter, Alanice. "Here, Nicey, it's yours," she called the child's nickname. And she looked at the gifts one by one to give them, while the kids were excitedly watching her waiting for their turn to unwrapped their own gift. It’s another Christmas and her 34th birthday.

" They both yelled my nickname. I squatted down in time to catch both of their little bodies in hugs. "Are you guys ready for Santa to come tonight?" I asked. "Yes!!" They cheered. "We wrote him a wetter." Sophie struggled to say. "Oh wow you wrote him a letter." I made my eyes go big." And he replied?" They nodded their heads so fast I was worried they'd get whip lash. "As long as you two have been good girls he'll bring you everything you want." I tapped their noses and made them giggle. They moved away from me. Sophie going straight for Olivia and Charlotte went right for Knox, who scooped her up in his arms.

Kelly’s POV I stared at the blank notebook page, the Christmas lights twinkling on the tree across the room like they were mocking my secrets. It was Christmas Eve, and instead of baking cookies or wrapping gifts, I was spilling my guts, every filthy fantasy I'd buried since puberty. The wolves can't keep their eyes down; they shift subtly to watch them, trying to comprehend who this girl is—this stranger who somehow commands their Alpha's attention in a way no one else does. "I've been around this town," Ivy starts. "And?" Jackson interrupts, but Kai's glare makes him back off. "Christmas day is around the corner, and it looks like a ghost town." I'm thinking we could organize some activities for the season, bring everyone together, and spread some warmth. For the first night—" "You called my attention for this nonsense?"

I learned to be thankful and quiet. That acceptance made me hate Christmas. Love songs made my skin crawl. The lights under our tree looked like glass eyes. The ribbons on the presents were traps. Every year, the house tuned itself to cheer and I pretended to enjoy it. The twenty-fifth became the night when a new kind of cold touched my bones. It was the day the truth had crawled out at me like an animal. It was the day I had learned how much of my life had been decided by other hands.

One soft click. The picture came out tasteful but teasing, enough to make him grin. She smiled, selected Darren’s name, hit send. Then tossed her phone onto the bed and poured herself a glass of cheap red wine. Next week, she'd have her bags packed, ready to head to Maysville, the small town she'd grown up in for Christmas. Her holiday plan was just perfect! Her playlist hummed to life; jazzy, lazy Christmas tunes filling the air. For the first time all day, her shoulders relaxed. She even started humming along, thinking about what tomorrow morning would look like. Morning pancakes, bad movies, Darren’s laugh…
