Claimed By My Ex's Father-in-law 소설 & 이야기

“Don’t insult me.” She stepped closer to the bars again. “You took his time. His attention. His pride. The love that should have belonged to Grayson and Liam — his legitimate sons. And gave it all to you,” she said quietly. “The child he made with the help.” Roman let out a slow breath. “So this is about the fact that my father loved me.” “No,” she said. “Your father humiliated my entire family and me,” she continued calmly. “He promised to marry me, Roman. Our families had already celebrated the match.”

For a second, I almost see anger flicker beneath his calm expression. Possession. Like he can’t stand the idea of losing control over me. Finally, he lets go slowly. “We have my grandmother’s birthday banquet tomorrow,” he says stiffly. “Don’t embarrass the family.” I stare at him in disbelief. That’s what matters right now? Public appearance? Family reputation? God, I really married a stranger. “I’ll be there,” I say flatly. “After that, send the signed divorce papers to my lawyer.” Then I walk past him without another glance.

“Stamped and signed in front of a lawyer. I have a copy of the will. Everything; this house, the lands, he left them to me. Your father was a very sweet man. I wouldn’t lie about that.” “Well… he didn’t last long in bed. But I suppose the love he gave me, which surprised me too – made up for it. He cared about me so much it amazed me.” My knees weakened, and I nearly collapsed to the floor. “What are you doing here?!” I snarled. “Where are my parents?! Where’s Mom?! And Dad?!”

He chuckled. "That's how much I value you too. You fell in love with my wife's best friend, love at first sight." I teased him. We talked about our lives and our problems. Maybe this will be better to just forget everything. "I fell in love with your wife too." "Don't get me pissed. It's not going to work." My hands brushed roughly on his shoulders. "I became the father, and you were just chilling somewhere out there burning bushes and causing chaos." "Actually, I was looking after all of you. I just didn't feel it was right to reveal myself." I defended myself.

“Theron… She's your mate. Are you planning on playing the long game?” I scoffed. “Do you want me to sit her down and tell her that I divorced my ex after finding out Kaiden wasn’t my son? That I spent years looking for my fated mate, and when I finally found her… I tricked her into signing a contract so I could use her to shut the Elders up and hopefully convince her to bear me an heir?” Silence. Exactly. “I’m protecting her,” I muttered, more to myself than to him. After a few seconds of silence, Gideon cleared his throat. “Speaking of Kaiden… I got word that he's arriving tonight, with his fiancée.”

I had done something I shouldn't, and I deeply regretted it, but that was all in the past now. We have left that behind us. It isn't a past I wanted to visit. “Don't pretend you don't know what I am talking about.” He was standing a few feet away from me. “Aside from being my son's ex-girlfriend, you were also with Dave; you were two-timing,” he yelled. I raised a brow at this, “what?” I was puzzled. Where the fuck was this coming from? “How could you? How…” I couldn't even ask him a coherent question; my words seemed stuck in the back of my throat.

The words hit me like a slap. “She’s my fucking ex, Uncle!” The words tore out of me, raw and jagged. “Second-hand goods I already broke in. I can’t even count how many times I’ve had her and how many ways. And you… you don’t find that revolting? Screwing your own nephew’s leftovers?” A collective gasp rolled through the ballroom like a shockwave. Phones rose in slow motion. Flashes detonated sharply and some faces froze in horror. Others… Christ, some looked openly entertained.

I don't know what's in those documents he claims to have, he only said that he would send my father to jail if I didn't marry his daughter. At first, I decided to go ahead with the marriage, but my father didn't let himself be intimidated. He went to the police station and turned himself in, releasing me from that commitment with my ex. The wedding is still scheduled because my ex-father-in-law doesn't know that my father turned himself in and that an investigation is underway.

He grabbed a drink from the fridge and gulped it down. I fold my arms across my chest and stare at him in disbelief. I'm pissed off. I was upset with him for not stopping whatever his mother was saying to the few people who came after the Fadericks. Busy saying in front of everyone that I was his son's wife. That I was the daughter-in-law of their family. "Why? Not that it's wrong," his voice was casual. He put the water bottle on the counter and untied his tie. I shook my head. "It was wrong. It's very wrong. You're smart enough to know the word 'ex'. I was your wife in the past, not now." I argued.

He mumbled, still unable to tell me "Trust me, Carter. I'm your wife, and we can just talk this out, and if you feel I'd be pissed, I promise I won't." I squeezed his hand a little He looked at me hesitantly, then spoke up. "There's this ex of mine who left me because she thinks I'm not well to do. When I was in college, my dad gave me money, but it was limited. He claims he wants me to know how to manage and stuff like that, so all those times I was dating her.
