With my arms and hands stretched out in front of me, I darted into him and grabbed his neck and twisted it in one quick motion. I heard a deep roar and as I was taking down another hunter, I looked over to see Talon fighting with the leader and several other hunters. My first instinct was to help him, when I then saw at the corner of my eye, Kiko on her knees with her arms held out either side of her by four hunters as another stood in front of her raising his gun. He brought the gun up to his eyeline and his finger went to the trigger. I dropped the hunter who was limp in my hands and darted over as quickly as I could.

I was late morning when Tristan entered the room pulling my head of the book, I looked at him in slight amazement. “We have the conference call in twenty minutes.” He greeted stepping into the room as I looked up. “What?” He asked and I held up the book. “Tristan, this book.” I stated not really knowing how to explain it. “It’s a novel, just a story that I found in the library, but it’s based on a family of werewolves, the two daughters, twins, were born with a special gift, they could produce fire and ice.” I uttered and watched as his brows rose. “They later became joint alphas of the their pack. Do you think this could be the story of the alpha twins that we were looking for?”

I gently closed the newspaper and threw it into the blazing fireplace in front of me. The tongues of fire instantly swallowed the paper, swallowing that name and that past soaked in blood and betrayal. "Nothing." I took a sip of coffee, warmth spreading through my body. Not waiting to behold the fallout, I scramble out of the dining room, fleeing back to the nursery. Once back in the room, I ignite a taper from the room's only wall sconce. I make my way to my dark cell, lighting the little oil lamp on the nightstand next to my sleeping pallet. The small oil lamp sheds enough light for me to open my newly acquired trunk and grab another woolen tunic. I change and performing a cursory exam of the fading burn marks on my thighs, relieved that the soup is not any hotter because this is a time where I could die from a splinter.
