I have to resist the urge to compare Logan's traits with his, along with his confidence, his intelligence and the kind of security he gives me, because maybe it's unfair to compare a common man to a demon. It takes every bit of effort to rip my eyes away from his body and focus on staying calm like he suggested. The two stop by our table, one of them saying, “Look who we have here.” “And with a pretty lady too,” the other one adds. I cringe inwardly. I may not have the audacity to compare a commom man to a demon just yet, but nothing is going to stop me from comparing these two losers with Logan. It's like he's built different.

“I swear Hugo, if this is not something life-threatening or important, I will… I will literally attack you in your sleep!” Logan knew very well that he could never beat Hugo in a real, fair fight. There was muttering in the hall again as none would talk louder. The syndicates started dispersing, including the two estranged Alphas. Logan sat feeling unease. He had discovered that he had some pains in his neck recently and when he swung his help, the pain would be lesser. He stood up and was about to leave the hall when the Luna called him. “Logan,” she called. “Yes, mother.” He replied. “Are you alright?” she asked as she saw him swinging his neck again. “Yes mother,” he answered, but the Luna remembered the combat night when he felt uneasy like that but lost at the end. She had been trying to get him back to his position. But seeing him in such a weak form only brought fear into her.

"I've already removed Maggie as chief secretary." Logan had waited two hours in the Northern council chamber, and his opening line still sounded like he was looking for credit. I tossed a communication stone onto the table. "That's not why I agreed to see you." He recognized the serial number on the casing and stared at it in shock. "Wasn't it destroyed?" I looked at him coldly. "You destroyed the copy." Logan hurried to assure me, "Wendy, I believe you now."

His beards could fit a braid or two, his coat was torn at the sleeve, he had a faint scar on the side of his jaw, but his eyes— the calm blue pupils, they were steady. “Brother,” he said quietly. I didn't answer. I only gestured for him to speak. Logan glance at Maya and then back at me. “I'll get straight to the point so I don't waste your time.” He said “I know you have no reason to help me or believe me but I came here to make peace.”

Vera said with a hint of anger. “Don't worry, we will figure everything out” I said while resting my head on her shoulder. “I was supposed to be protecting the both of you” she said while pulling Gina into the hug as well. We suddenly heard hurried footsteps behind us and turned around to see Jake running over with a worried expression. “What's wrong?” I asked before he could get to us. “Logan transformed into his wolf but it went wild in the woods and we are unable to stop it” he said while taking in sharp breaths.

It shouldn’t have healed that well in such a short period. His timeline doesn’t make sense. But I don't press. Not yet anyway. “Okay,” I mumble softly, letting it go. “Where’s Lucian?” I ask next, my throat dry and raw. “Have you killed him?” Logan leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees, his eyes narrowing slightly.

My heart warmed up and I couldn't thank him enough. The gratitude went on like a string of mantras until I pulled myself together. The card didn't decline this time. After hanging up, I wiped the tears and turned to the ruckus outside. The commotion was building even before, but I didn't pay attention as I was busy managing myself. I rushed out to see Leah and Logan in the centre of it. I gasped since Logan had his fangs deep into the neck of his victim. "Logan! What the hell! Leave him this instant!" I yelled.
