I stared at the names in the report, but I felt nothing. I closed the file and turned back to my work. I didn’t return to Ashveil Pack. I stayed at the outpost—where my strength was earned, not inherited. Here, I wasn’t just a shadow. I was Vera. The warrior they respected. The wolf who didn’t need to rely on anyone else. They gave me the space to grow, to rise as I always should have. They respected me—not because of my bloodline, but because of what I could do.

Kieran stated. "Who said I'm leaving? I'm just going to rest." Time crawled by. Kieran gathered treasures to present to me, but nothing stirred my heart. I sat alone in the garden, writing on my laptop. Kieran initially thought this was merely how I passed time, until one afternoon when his assistant brought him a tablet: "Alpha Kieran, you should see this..." On the screen was my ongoing serialized novel, where the protagonist's experiences mirrored my own exactly! I was using the cruelest method possible, turning my scars into words for public consumption.

Better, that is what I have been craving for. I walk straight to my desk, sit down and open my laptop. The screen glows softly in the darkness as my writer's author page appears. A. This is my real world. A place where I can finally be myself and I don’t have to deal with him. This is also my little secret no one knows about. I'm a fictional story writer. My fingers move fast over the keyboard. Tonight’s chapter came out harsher than usual. I intentionally make the man who thinks he is perfect in my story lose everything all of the sudden without any good for it because it makes me remember someone I don't want to. Piece by piece, I destroyed him harder than I originally intended.
