The book I was looking at in the library a while back, which was all destroyed and unreadable, was also Everett’s favourite book and is a book that is widely hated. Things weren’t adding up. Shaking my head, ‘I don’t understand. If it’s a book of fiction, why do people hate it so much? Why can’t you have a fictional story of a female Alpha leader?’

She didn't startle, which surprised him, she looked up slowly, unhurried, the particular composure of someone who had decided, somewhere in the last several days, to stop flinching every time a member of this family caught her doing something she shouldn't. "The binding's already compromised," she said. "Someone rebacked the spine at some point, badly, with the wrong adhesive. It's drying out faster than it should. Gloves wouldn't save it at this point — the damage that matters already happened decades ago." She closed the book carefully, with a precision that looked less like guilt and more like habit, and set it back on the low shelf exactly where she'd found it. "I wasn't going to take it

The first page contains only a title: The Curse of Hucow Hollow. My breath catches. I spin and hurry to a chair off to the side and settle in, tucking my legs under me as I examine the book more closely. The writing inside is different. Less documentation, more observation. This book doesn’t have Khael’s usual meticulous attention to detail. It feels guarded. Like whoever wrote it wasn’t sure they wanted to record it at all. There are a few pages—some descriptions of the first signs of corruption, a line about the Hollow resisting before finally giving in, and a brief mention of the witch buried below the land.

I had almost forgotten that too, if not for Tina’s harsh reminder of trying to kill her. Lily walked in, while I hovered behind like the gloomy shadow I am. I was getting so uncomfortable for some reason. I am sure Dom must have told her I had a huge mental breakdown which shattered me when she got poisoned. Fuck. “It looks like you’re enjoying this book a lot, Cora.” Lily smiled. Cora’s eyes were glued on the pages. “This is so touching, I’m almost in tears, honey. I can’t put the book down. Difficult, broken romance is so sad yet beautiful at the same time.”

His hatred already consumed him as he was grieving from his shattered life. "I am Lucido." Luci shouted with rage, and fired his power to the Sage. It was already too late, he was already consumed by his own anger. He attacked the Sage and went to a rampage. He was no longer a human. He's already corrupted, a demon in a form of human. Merlin felt sadness as he was already to late to save this pitiful child. He had no other choice but to stop him, even if he needs to kill him. "Agni Spirit of the blazing fire, heed my command. Appear in my front, and destroy my enemy with your hands."

It seemed to Anna every day she was met with another empty cubicle where once an active member of her team had worked. On top of the rapid decline of her staff, Anna was also faced with a more pressing issue of Nate’s manuscript. With all the preview copies destroyed at the Festive of Books exhibit, the IT rep tried for days to recover the files and failed. The back-up files and even her flash drive had been mysteriously corrupted. Anna’s one hard copy that she had sent to the printer was having problems as well. Whenever they tried to copy the pages, the ink would run out, or the pages would smudge beyond legibility and even one time the entire press shut down.

They trooped in twos and threes till Tobias himself came out last. Grimm was waiting for him outside the Church. Tobias knew something was amiss when he saw it. "The dog?" Nun Estelle smiled when she saw Grimm. "It's cute, though." Ignoring her attention-seeking act, Tobias followed Grimm's lead, to the Rectory. Grimm took him to the bookshelves where the wall has been punched in and destroyed. The room looks like a madhouse with weak wall plasters laying around and books from the shelves filling the ground to a certain point.

But I could not hear properly anymore. Because the corruption was out. I saw it.. Floating above me like living darkness. Writhing. Screaming. Sora lunged instantly. The wolf roared with enough force to shake the palace as blue-and-gold magic slammed directly into the corruption. And this time, it had nowhere to run. The darkness convulsed violently. Then it simply shattered. It did not explode or dissipate.. just shattered.. Like glass breaking apart beneath unbearable force. The corruption let out one final horrific scream…then disappeared completely.

They began calling me the Steady Flame behind my back. Not because I burned bright but because I've been so calm lately. If only they knew. If only Morwen knew that every time she checked her scrying mirror and saw me reading quietly in the library, I was already three steps ahead. Already weakening a seal here. Already slipping a corrupted ink into the restoration grimoires there. Already ensuring that every fix they made would carry a flaw,a tiny fracture that would grow. Like rot in the wood. Like poison in wine. Like fire in dry grass.

No matter how angry I am with him now, I can never deny this attraction and desire I feel at just the very sight of him. How I wish he hadn't chosen this field, this deadly occupation. He is still a few steps away from me, yet I feel cornered. "I don't want this. You have no right to me!" His hands hold mine firmly over my head, soft lips grazing my cheek, making me breathless, and it leaves me bothered. He is dangerous. Corrupted. I don't feel safe around him, but I weirdly feel at home. Lord, what's wrong with me?
