You proved me wrong and I am grateful for that every single day. The world this novel inhabits is fictional but it is not invented. Corruption at institutional level is real. The damage it does to ordinary people who try to use the system correctly is real. The forty-three people in this novel who did the honest thing and were failed for it represent something true about what happens when power decides that accountability is inconvenient. But this novel is not finally about corruption.
