She had to be always grateful as he didn’t like it either when he thought she wasn't being appreciative. She absentmindedly rubbed her right wrist when she remembered him when she was seven and her dad gave her a present of a porcelain doll that looked like her. It had blonde hair so fair it was almost white. Displeased, she dropped the doll, its porcelain face cracking from the impact. She whined. "I’m too old for dolls–" He grabbed her wrist and twisted till the bone snapped. She cried out and clutched her wrist to herself as hot tears fell down her cheeks. Her wrist throbbed painfully and she bit her lip as she tried not to sob.

The crystal cracked. For the first time in eons, the god bled.

“No, no, no—” She wanted to tear the bond out of her own skin. She wanted to rip the mark from her throat. She wanted to be anywhere but here, dangling like a broken marionette, humiliated and ruined and still somehow burning inside. Burning in a way that didn’t feel like life, didn’t feel like power. Inside the drawer lay a row of handmade dolls. They were all tattered and strange-looking. Some were missing arms, some had broken legs. Others had their mouths sewn shut, their faces expressionless. These dolls all bore a striking resemblance to Jenny. Neo picked up one of the dolls, looking at its broken arm, his eyes filled with a chilling sense of foreboding.
