I laugh. Soon my laugh fades and I sit quietly for the remainder of the ride. After church Malika, Blake, and I go out to eat. I enter and greet the bartender Phillip. He says hello but he's engrossed with this news story. Deep Woods campsite had two gruesome murders last night. A father and son camping by the lake were dragged from their RV and mauled. "Oh my God! We were there last night!" I gasp. Phillip turns facing me saying, "That's crazy! There are no bears or lions in Deep Woods! What in God's name could've done that?"

“What happened?” “I was camping with my friends. We went too far into the forest, ignoring some warnings posted about the dangers in the forest. It was a full moon that night,” Hunapo paused. “We were around the bonfire when—a human came. His clothes were in tatters, his eyes were wide as if he had witnessed something horrific.” Elora glanced left and right, imagining a black figure suddenly appearing from within the surrounding forest, and lunging at them like zombies. Elora raised the hood over her head to dispel that image.

We started setting up tents and sleeping bags. A little after dark, we began roasting smores, laughing and telling stories. "Okay, I got a good one, the story of the swamp boogey monster." The dirtiest and freakiest ones we’ve experienced individually and are ready to share with everyone,” Allison added with a laugh.

For the next couple of hours, while Hacker and Sphinx work in the van, the rest of us make up ghost stories. I have to admit, Raptor is really good at making up scary stories and Intrigue is as well. Megan’s aren’t terrible, but Venom’s are, as they said, pretty stupid. I’m not sure mine are any better, but I made up one about the ghost that lives in the river, and it made everyone glance at the river we’re sleeping beside more than once.
