I groaned and held my head, closing my eyes tight till it ebbed down. Ryu... I started to laugh. How I felt exactly? Even I didn't know. There were so many emotions. Fear, anger, hatred. But the greatest was despair. I wanted to disappear. This feeling... I didn't like it at all. I laughed and laughed. I didn't know why I was laughing. Nothing was funny but I was laughing. Maybe because if I stopped laughing, I would scream. I threw my free hand into my hair and tilted my head toward the old ceiling. Tears streamed down my cheeks. “You're joking.” “I’m sorry, Mia.” His voice was quieter now. “But that's the truth.” I laughed again. It hurt. Every sound that left my mouth felt like something inside me was tearing.

However, it wasn't until I saw his exasperated eye roll that sealed the deal. Curling up on the ground in a drunken state of hilarity, I continued wallowing in the endless pit of insanity.

It wasn’t a happy laugh because nothing was funny but I still laughed anyway. I stood there, outside the house, laughing like someone who had lost her mind. The kind of laugh that comes out when you feel so hurt and so confused, that your body doesn’t know what else to do. My chest shook as I laughed harder, louder, and longer until it turned into something else that I didn’t see coming, tears.

I declared, my voice trembling with passion. His face lit up with overwhelming joy. And then, he couldn’t hold back his tears. In the next moment, we were both crying—crying but laughing at the same time. We were like fools, unsure whether to sob or laugh from the sheer happiness overtaking us. My God. I love this man so much. He’s the man who’s made me cry countless times, but he’s also the one who makes me laugh wholeheartedly—who brings boundless joy to my soul.
