MARIANNE The water felt heavy, like the weight of the world pressing me deeper into the abyss. My limbs thrashed, desperate to reach the surface, but the more I struggled, the farther away it seemed. Then, like a sinister veil being lifted, the water turned crimson, the deep red staining everything around me. My arms became numb, the pain gnawing through my body. I'm sure to find something! Suddenly, I freeze as I read a new chapter. My trembling finger frantically follows the lines. My eyes widen and my heart thumps in my chest. She morphs into an owl and flies off into the distance. “The cold ones.” Brea hisses as they all look over the horizon at the huge ships coming from across the sea. “Cursed ones,” the leader of the natives announces. “We call them cold ones,” Brea explains. “They are cursed.” the leader of the natives maintains. “If you look closely you will see the spell reflecting on their wooden water house.” Brea looks at the ships closely. Her eyes widens as she sees the signs. The curse is barely visible but it is there, contaminating even the ship.

Soon the beautiful sea shell dissolved in my palms, turning into bright red, spilling through my fingers. ‘BLOOD!’’ The unmistakable stench of blood hits my senses strongly. I staggered back, my eyes staring at the ocean in shock, unable to believe what my eyes were telling me. The once blue ocean was now darkened and nothing more than an endless sea of blood. “This… this can’t be happening.” My whisper vanished into the air as the sky above cracked open with thunder, clouds twisting into a storm. “This can't be real!” I tried to move but I couldn't.
