Beauty and the Alpha Beast
“You’re mistaken, Your Highness. She was never at the ball. She’s no one important.”
The prince turns, his eyes blazing. “Mistaken or not, this woman has been locked in a cellar like a criminal! You make her sleep in cold darkness? And for what? That is cruelty, Lady Mireth.”
I watch his jaw tighten as he speaks, and a pull starts low in my spine, rising like a warning, or a promise. It stalks beneath my skin, a reckless sort of wanting that unnerves me.
Mireth’s voice slices through like a blade. “You should know, Your Highness, she’s a half-breed mutt. Feral blood in her veins. If you were wise, you’d keep your distance.”
