I cross the street, my eyes still darting around, looking for any clue, any sign that this wasn't a wasted trip. As I step inside the Candy Corner, the bell above the door jingles, a surprisingly cheerful sound. The air inside is thick with the sweet, cloying smell of sugar and something vaguely fruity. Shelves are crammed with colorful packets of sweets, old-fashioned jars of hard candies, and a small, dusty display of newspapers.

Now I’m finishing the food. Liam walks into the kitchen, a few bags from the local store in his hands. “I think I just made the weirdest purchase of my life at Gilligan’s. Gel pens in, like, fifteen colors, ten disposable cameras, five compact mirrors, and enough candy to give a giraffe diabetes.” I shoot him a smile over my shoulder as I check the paratha dough. “Jai and Violet will appreciate it. According to Meredith, goblins, boggarts, and kobolds are big candy fans. And you can trade with the dark elves using the rest.”

I'm not that tall to begin with, i climbed over the counter and stood there picking my choice from different chocolate bars, gummy bears and even marshmallow. I did not infact want any of it, save for the few mango flavored candy, oh and the sour patch packets, but I could not, in my right mind let her have all that sugar. “No way, I did all the work.” That much I could not argue with.
