We fall quiet for a minute, letting it sink in, and I watch Freddie sleep, wondering how he fits into this, human or not, male or hiding something, but our wolves don’t care about that, they just know he’s ours. “The curse was specific though,” I say, because I can’t shake it, the words etched in my head from the old stories, “it said we could fall in love with a lady, we would always desire women and never find love, just the chase, the want, without the bond.”
