We sense your wish" they say to me. With their final blessing I chant the last line of curse and hurl it at the girl.

"In a cabin, there is your mother's spell book. There are also our records of lineage. Take them back with you to study them. Memorize everything. There will be a day I won't be here to guild you. Go now, bring them back here, and I will explain more." I left, running as fast as I could to the cabin. I opened the door and breathed in the deep smell of herbs, lavender, mint, and basil. My body relaxed as I ran my fingers over all the leather-bound books and some with wooden covers. I grabbed my mothers spell book and started flipping through the pages.

She told me she knew what I was, despite the fact that I’d kept my nature hidden even from my own father. Wolf shifter, she’d spat. You’ll never find happiness. Never find love. I glanced at both of them and the packs of books on the table. “What’s that for?” The priestess met my eyes for a brief gaze before pushing the books towards me, “I checked the house and these are the books he was checking out when he was around.” “What are they about?” I asked, stretching to pick the littlest and first one. “Mostly about how to destroy a curse..” That earned my attention, my fingers stopping on the first page that I just opened. A curse. Unless there was someone else he was helping and wanted to help. The only person that had a curse was me…

I sighed, leaning back against the wall. Cole smiled weakly and crossed his arms over his chest, his biceps bulging alluringly. "I have a plan that might work, but it will take a few days to set in motion. In the meantime, I have something for you to read." He passed me a leather bound book before he turned his back on me and lay down on the couch, leaving me to stare after him. I looked down at the book once again before I entered my room and sank down on my bed, opening the weathered book carefully, flipping to a random page.

he gives me a smile that looks an awful lot like a smirk before continuing. He just keeps making me want to end his miserable existence. I don’t know why he is still part of the council because the whole werewolf packs know he is no good. “Situation with your wolf,” he says as though he was trying to find the most respectful way to say it. I used to be the cursed alpha but now I’ve heard the new title I’ve received is the mad alpha because I am apparently going crazy. “What about it?” I didn’t spend almost three hundred years with these men to not know how to deal with them intentionally trying to get a rise out of me.

The air smelled clean, the lights warm, the shelves tall and perfect. “Choose the book that pulls you,” the woman said. “It will tell you what you need.” She vanished into the shadows. I walked along the shelves. My hand stopped on one book, not because I liked it, but because something in me reacted. A strange pull. Inside were sketches, human shadows twisted into wolves, claws emerging from the hands, glowing eyes in the darkness. I swallowed hard.

And the only question on my mind was: “What the hell just happened?” N.B: This is book 5 of The Dark Council Series. The first book is called The Vampire's Bride and the second is called The Incubus's Secretary. Both these books have been published and are available on A****n.
