I had no particular reaction when I saw the results. I went along with Ethan to his house three more times. Last week, we celebrated new year there together and watched fireworks from his terrace. I'm now really close with my Mom and Sister. The second time I went, I gifted Eve with a painting of her and I can't explain how happy she was on seeing it. She was jumping squealing ' Am I actually this beautiful ?' Seeing the drawing, our Mom told me, I should also draw her pic one day. And I gifted her with a portrait of her on the new years eve. She had a wide smile on her lips as she grazed her fingers over the drawing.

Ace chimed in, his eyes shining with pride. I couldn't help but smile at their infectious energy, feeling a warmth spread through my heart. Pushing aside my worries for a moment, I shifted my focus to them, eager to see their creations. "That's wonderful, sweeties! Let me see." I beckoned them closer, and they eagerly rushed over, holding their drawings into my hands. Luna's drawing shown a colorful garden scene, complete with flowers, butterflies, and a shining sun, while Ace's featured a tall tree laden with apples, surrounded by smiling stick-figure people.

From outside, very faintly, almost nothing at all, came one heavy thud that might have been somebody’s body hitting the wall or somebody’s ego splitting in half. Poppy didn’t even turn her head. She held out her drawing to me proudly. “Look. This is the new castle. This one is for me. This one is for Bunny. This one is for Mommy if you behave.” I looked at the drawing of a giant pink tower with a helipad, a vegetarian dragon, and something that might have been a conference room. “Beautiful,” I said. And outside, the world was welcome to keep burning itself down.

I realized that the vetting had already begun and waited for my submission to come up while my heart pounded. “And this one, from Evelyn Talbot.” The screen lit up with a drawing, beautiful orange and purples stood out from the screen, bathing the designers in the front row in light. A couple of oooh and ahh were heard while I stayed frozen in my seat, staring at a drawing that looked like it was straight out of my sketchbook.
