I caught the look in her eyes a flash of warning but before I could react, Vivian slid a plate of food toward me.
“You should eat.” She said kindly. “You must be starving.”
My stomach growled in betrayal, I hadn’t eaten all day. I hesitated, then took a small bite. The others watched with quiet amusement, whispering among themselves.
The food was warm, but something about the taste felt wrong it was metallic, bitter. My throat tightened.
Kara’s eyes widened. “Aria, stop-”
The fork dropped from my hand. A burning sensation crawled down my throat, spreading fast my vision blurred.
