Sienna, who lived her life avoiding conflict and certainly never described anything as “essential,” felt a strange spark ignite in her chest. “That sounds… amazing,” she said, and meant it.
Daisy’s smile widened, transforming her face. “Right? See, you get it.” She looked Sienna up and down again, but this time it felt less like an assessment and more like an invitation. “I’m Daisy.”
“Sienna.”
“Sienna,” Daisy repeated, as if tasting the name. “Like the burnt orange pigment. Strong. Earthy.” She nodded, approving. “You hiding from the rain, Sienna?”
