We were the dynamic duo” He slings an arm around my shoulder. “It’s nice to meet you” I smile, shaking his hand. “And you. Daniel , I’m happy you found someone kid” He nods.

“Hey, I wanted to ask you something.” “Yeah?” “Was Annabella really here, did you actually talk to her?” wondered Bobby. “Yeah, I saw her,” I admitted, Bobby didn’t say anything, he seemed deep in thought. The silence was finally broken by Daniel coming over. He wore a tight black shirt, which showed his muscles to perfection and dark jeans. He’s hair was still damp from the swim earlier, he was looking mighty fine. “Hey guys, enjoying yourselves?” Daniel asked. “Besides the ass incident and someone claiming I’m your girl, sort of,” I informed. I was so blunt at times.

"Start the camera." Fidel turned on the recording equipment. The red light blinked on. Daniel's face appeared on the monitor chained and pale but with a stubborn set to his jaw. "For the record," I said to the camera, "this is Daniel Vanguard former CEO of Vanguard Weaponry. He has refused to confess to his crimes. What happens next is his choice." I walked over to Daniel with the knife. He watched me approach but didn't flinch. Didn't beg. Just kept that same defiant expression.

“How dare you touch my woman?” “Argh!!!” Daniel screamed and quickly covered his head with his hands. Blood trickled through his fingers. Riley and the others were stunned to see this. Next, their expressions were replaced with fear. Daniel was the general manager of Emgrand Group, and Chase had wounded him. This was bad news! Daniel held his hand in his hands and roared, “How dare you hit me, you lowlife?! I guarantee you that you'll pay terribly for this! It won’t be just him. All of you are dead. I was not supposed to be noticing him. His name was Daniel, according to the senior bellhop who'd shown me the ropes. Daniel had been working here for three years. He moved through the chaotic lobby with a lazy, predatory grace that made my stomach flip. He wasn't overly tall, but he was built, broad shoulders tapering to a narrow waist, the uniform stretching taut across his chest and thighs in a way that should have been illegal. His dark hair was perpetually a little tousled, as if he'd just run his hands through it, and his eyes were the color of storm clouds, sharp and knowing.

"I'm saying we need the truth." Emily looked back at the paused image on the phone again. Her heart felt confused. Angry. And strangely hopeful. If Daniel was really alive… Then what had happened three years ago? At that moment, Daniel spoke again. "There’s something else." Alexander looked at him. "What?" Daniel scrolled through the information on his tablet. "The man in the video…" He hesitated for a moment. Alexander raised an eyebrow. "Say it." Daniel continued, "He is now the CEO of a company called Harper Global Investments."

Every muscle in my body tightened immediately. Beside me, Lily muttered under her breath, “Oh absolutely not.” Ryan’s expression went completely unreadable beside our table. Daniel dropped his bag onto one of the desks loudly before speaking. “Damn. Brookshire still smells the same.” A few hockey players near the back laughed awkwardly. Then Daniel’s gaze shifted toward Ryan. “There he is.” One of the hockey guys frowned slightly. “Thought you quit school.” “Nah.” Daniel leaned back casually against a desk. “Just needed a break.”
