Liam pulled me to my feet, steadying me as the chamber lights flickered again. “What’s happening?” I gasped. He grabbed my hand. “The system’s collapsing. We have to move.” We ran through the corridor, the metallic walls cracking with bursts of static. Sparks rained from the ceiling. My heart pounded as we pushed forward, the exit a blur of light ahead. But as we reached the final passage, the air shimmered—and a figure stepped out from the shadows. Damien. He looked different. The calmness that once defined him was gone. His eyes glowed faintly, threaded with blue light. The same light that had pulsed through Liam moments before.

You need to throw that dog some kind of bone". I open my eyes a little more and say a little louder, "Damien". All the yelling stops, and he looks at me, "Hey! There's my sweet mate! Do you need a drink?"

His lips pressed lightly to my forehead, a soft gesture that made my heart ache with love. Just then, a loud bang shook the floor beneath us.
