Daphne began as she held the phone tighter. A groan was heard from the other side of the phone. "Daphne? It's been ages." Daphne chuckled nervously. Why was she sounding sick? "Are you alright?" "I think we have been poisoned. Not a big deal… We have been vomiting greenish slimy substances since yesterday." There was a retching sound. She raised an eyebrow. "Can you get poisoned? I mean.. can witches get poisoned and they wouldn't know? Don't you read minds or something?"

"Everything alright darling?" I don't answer her, but lay my head on her shoulder. She leaves me alone, playing her fingers in my hair. I close my eyes to the soothing touch of her fingers combing my hair. Olivia has been helping keep me calm since we learned about Victoria's special spell to change me into a Dhamphir along with my baby.

She needs a job to earn more money and that's her priority. She and Mae-ann left their meal to head to the office. Daphne afterward noticed a man as she was working. She appeared to recognize a famous person in her front. His physique is well-developed, and he is tall. Moreover, he bears a resemblance to actor Ruru Madrid. He looks pretty good in his lovely dress. Daphne approached to help him as he was choosing his first-class sneakers. He was wealthy, which made her feel ashamed. She greeted him with a smile and said, "Hello, Sir, have you made your choice of shoes yet?"

When it was my turn, I stepped forward, fishing a note from my pocket to hand it to the person there. “That would be five ninety-nine,” she said, absent mindedly. I froze for a moment as the voice washed over me. It was her – Daphne Curtis. She sat behind a glass, those curly brown hair tucked behind her ears and a red scarf around her neck. It made her eyes look larger and prettier than it usually was. I shook my head. What the hell? Did I just think the plus size omega was pretty? I quickly gave her the note and as she handed me the change, she looked up. “Thank you. Enjoy—”

Her hair was lank and lusterless, falling around her like strings of rotting straw. A cauldron bubbled slowly in the corner, leaving off the most infernal and rancid vapors. Bits of frogs’ legs, bat wings and eyes of newt were scattered around the floor of the cave. Her lupine eyes, savage and cunning, only came to life when she muttered certain arcane words from a spell. They perched above her hawkish and hooked nose. From it sprang the most preposterous wart. It was at least the size of a saucer. It would have been funny if the scene wasn’t so Stoker-esque.

Dawn Smith was the little sister she never had. “Great!” Dawn said, happily “ooh, Harry Potter!” she added as she flopped down onto the bed, her black and purple striped hair fanning out over the bedspread. She snatched the book from Lena’s hands “I prefer Goblet of Fire” she glanced up at the older woman “it had dragons”. “So does Philosopher’s Stone”, Lena pointed out. Dawn blew a raspberry at that. “Hardly. It has an itty bitty baby dragon named Norbert but that’s it”, she said “nothing like the badass Hungarian Horntail” Dawn rolled over onto her stomach “hey, you do think dragons are real? That would be so cool”.
