I was just making sure they understood the mission." Tavor said "Good. Now listen troopers, You must protect my great-grandchild no matter what. He would be the redeemer of our kind and bring back peace to our home." Darius walked up to Leo and touched his shoulders, he said "I leave it to you, don't fail me."

Darius gaze flicks to me. I hold it steadily. Say it. "A woman," he says finally. "Name's Mara Wyatt." The line goes quiet. Then: "You always did like difficult jobs." "Can you do it or not?" "I can do anything. For the right price." "Name it." A number. High. Very high. Darius doesn't even hesitate. "Done." The channel closes. Darius exhales with shoulders loosening just a fraction as if the act of summoning violence steadied him.
