But I couldn’t let myself be afraid—not when everything was on the line. As we approached the next stretch of the journey, a sudden rustling sound in the trees made me stop in my tracks. I turned to Ethan, my hand instinctively reaching for the vial of the cure in my pack. He gave me a look, signaling me to stay still. "Stay close," Ethan said, his voice low and serious.
