“That sanctimonious bitch didn’t even flinch.”
A tall figure stood chained behind her—a bruised, bloodied man whose once-lustrous armor was now cracked and tainted with ash. He coughed quietly, watching her with dull, golden eyes.
“Plans falling apart, Isadora?” he rasped. “You used to be more careful.”
She turned to him with a slow, predatory smile. “And you used to be a god, Talyon.”
Talyon’s jaw clenched.
Isadora walked forward, slowly unraveling a coil of dark metal from a nearby table. It slithered through her fingers like a living thing, black and glistening.
