"What happened?" I asked, almost afraid to hear the answer. Gina's expression grew somber. "According to this, a great darkness swept across the lands, consuming everything in its path. Entire packs were lost, territories destroyed." Logan's face paled. "How did they stop it?" Gina turned the page, revealing an illustration that made my blood run cold. A woman, heavily pregnant, standing before a wall of darkness, her hands raised as light poured from her fingertips.

Like iron bands were locking around my ribs. My vision blurred. I was sinking. The trees leaned in, whispering secrets I couldn’t understand. The sky above dimmed, even darker than before, the clouds swallowing all light. And then— I was gone. Swallowed whole by the Blightwood. The Goddess didn’t answer. The wolf didn’t come. Only darkness.

The next day, as they ventured deeper into the mountains, the signs of the Dark One’s influence became more apparent. The once lush landscape had turned barren, the trees twisted and gnarled, their branches reaching like skeletal hands. The ground beneath their feet was cracked and dry, as though the life had been drained from it.

I could hear someone chuckling but it wasn't Rowan, it was Lucas, Rowan's brother. ‘’I’m Lucas’’ he brought his hand forward for me to shake. ‘’Leah, nice to meet you but I’m in a hurry.’’ ‘’Sure, pleasure’s all mine’’ ‘’What the fuck is going on here?’’, and here comes the wolf who was hiding in the lamb’s clothes, glaring at where my hand was still in his brother’s. ‘’Does it look like we are fucking each other? It's a handshake’’, I replied, with sarcasm of course.

On the way over, the 1,600 black-armored immortal generals had completely disappeared. The azure mountain ranges and the sand had all vanished, as had the great avenue of the yellow sand riverbed. Everything the crowd had experienced before was gone and replaced by endless darkness. It was a dark void, like a land of exile and a forgotten place. There were no stars or any starlight. The dense darkness was enough to devour everything, and there were no coordinates to be seen. An uncontrollable fear was coming from the endless darkness, about to eat everyone up.

Knoxx muttered and went over to help calm down the bodyguards. "Shit!" Camden shouted and ran over too, he could see a war starting already. The peaceful night turned into a night filled with chaos. It took a while to calm down the bodyguards and to make them allow Camden and the others bring Ahmya to the nearest hospital. Everyone was rushing, everything felt like they're in fast forward in Camden's eyes, he wasn't quite sure he was actually bored earlier. They were perfectly aware that the Dark was already stirring, just waiting for the perfect timing to wage a war and to seize the Light's territory. 'It won't be long,' Camden thought as he heard that Ahmya Yamato was declared dead.
