The darkness came at dawn. I stood on the balcony, watching the shadows roll across the kingdom like a tide of black water. The sky above was gray and cold, the sun struggling to break through the clouds. The streets below were empty, the people huddled in their homes, praying for deliverance. The air was thick with tension, with fear, with the weight of what was coming. The torches on the palace walls flickered, their flames bending as though bowing to the darkness that approached. The scent of ozone and shadow hung heavy in the air, a precursor to the storm that was about to break. Even the birds had fallen silent, as though they too sensed the approaching danger.

Unnatural darkness seemed to gather around them, and their every move was shadowed by an unseen presence. The very elements of the realm seemed to rebel against their efforts, as if nature itself had turned against them. It was as if the Eclipse's malevolence was seeping into every corner, seeking to snuff out any glimmer of hope.
