You dare to hurt that unwanted Luna—the stray?" he roared. The hunters moved backward as Drake suddenly shifted into a wild werewolf. His eyes turned red. "Unwanted, Luna? Stray?" The hunter scoffed as his men laughed soundly. "She's not unwanted. She's a Luna who will carry your heir, but before that, I will kill you first, and then, she'll follow you."

At least this way I could choose when. The doors in front of me opened and Drake and Brighid stood in the entrance in identical cloaks to me. Brighid’s face was blank as she met my eyes, but Drake sent me a reassuring smile. “Harper Kirby, Divine Warrior of the Shifter line, are you ready to swear your loyalty to the Divine Order and the grace that runs through your veins?” Brighid’s voice ran out clear but lacked any sort of emotion. I glanced at Elias again, and seeing the strained smile on his face I squeezed his hand before letting go. I faced Brighid again and took a deep breath.

“You killed my pack brothers. Killing you wouldn’t even begin to balance that sin.” He exhaled. “I have tolerated you because my wolf truly wants to cooperate with you,” he said. “Don’t push your luck. Enough with the lash and untie me.” “Beg, Daron,” I yelled at him. “Beg me to untie you.” He stared at me, eyes burning with alpha pride. “I wasn’t raised to beg or apologize, Lily. And I’m not starting now. I am Daron of Moonlit Whisper. The moment we left the residence, my guards were on our trail. I have warriors everywhere. You whipped me because I allowed it. Don’t forget that.”

“Now girls, I am a Dhampir like you but, I am a little different. Do you know what a familiar is?” The two older girls nodded. “Well, I have a familiar,” Seraphina pulled the sleeve of her dress down to show them her marking. “Can you guess what it is?” “A Flutterby,” one of the toddlers shouted as she threw her hands up in the air. “A very good guess,” Seraphina lightly tapped her on the nose. “But not quite-“ “-A dragon!” one of the older girls gasped as she stared at the markings. “Yes, very good. So, I am going to shift into my dragon and you are going to fly home on my back with the others. Now my dragon is very big but, she’s very kind and gentle so, you don’t need to be scared, okay?”

His face squeezed up sourly in confusion at his thought. "What the hell am I thinking?" he mumbled to himself and exhaled, fixing his gaze on Darius who likely contemplated on the fact of if the information he had was safe to share. “Then is Kyle really…” he stopped the insanity from leaving his mouth. There's no way he's really… “A dragon, yes he is. And so is Aragon… oh, I mean, Aaron.” Darius corrected and his mouth could only remain in a gape. “There are many others around you, they've all just basically merged in with– the times.”

In the way their gazes lingered on Zara. The sound of horn rented the air, as the gates groaned open. A figure emerged, clad in dark armor trimmed with silver fur. His presence radiated dominance and quiet brutality. Alpha Darius of the Ironclaw Pack, his icy blue eyes settling on us as we approached. “Ryker Bloodmoon,” he said, his voice simmering like gravel. “You bring boldness to my doorstep.” “And respect,” I replied evenly. “We come seeking alliance.” “And this must be the Luna who survived the Rite and the Covenant’s blade.” he added, his gaze shifting to Zara.

The creature disintegrated in midair, its shriek echoing into silence. Victor looked at me with a mix of awe and concern. "You're stronger than you think, Kyara." However, the electricity was drained. Every flash of light made me weaker, and my legs trembled as the conflict raged around us. Darius battled like a devil, tearing through the approaching wave with his wolf form. Blood coated his fur, yet he continued, his growls ringing over the clearing. "Kyara!" Victor yelled, his voice drawing me back. A second wave was approaching, bigger and more ominous. And leading them was a mysterious creature with golden eyes fixed on me.

As she looked closer, she realized she was searching for a sapphire-blue dragon, but the closest was a sky-blue dragon much too large to be her attacker. Slightly less on edge now, she watched the dragons interact, clashing and dipping with such grace and elegance that it was more like a dance than maneuvers of life and death. She was mesmerized by the emerald dragon in the center of it all, instantly recognizing Cameron. His brother was also green, but he was a slightly different shade. Ian was more of a sea-green than emerald, and though he was striking, she didn’t think he was nearly as beautiful as her dragon.
