Dead Wake Book Review Novels & Stories

I go the book I am currently reading, it is murder mystery/ thriller, titled ‘As good as dead’ and it is very interesting and intriguing. It was about a girl about to go to college, she is Blake’s age and she had spent the past two years solving murder cases and now she is clearly traumatized since in the last book, she had a guy die in her arms. I am not far in, I just started it on the plane and I have had much time to finish the book.

“I’m… surprised you haven’t seen it. Even Dawn wasn’t aware until we told her moments ago.” A cold wave washed over me. “So she knows?” I whispered. “Now she does.” I didn’t know whether to scream, collapse, or run inside. My brain refused to absorb it. My heart refused to accept it. My mouth refused to form another word. Dead. Ethan is dead, those loan sharks have finally killed him and if care is not taken Dawn is next. I took a step back, bumping into my own car. My chest rose and fell in short, sharp breaths.

******* Wren was driving in silence, but only Grace’s voice permeated the space. “…and I know you may get this urge to voice out how bitter you feel to him, but that just makes him continue to feel like a god over your emotions, you know?” Grace rattled on, using her arms for emphasis like she was dishing out some profound mysteries of the earth or something. “My therapist used to say that dead water is dead plants. I didn’t fully understand it till this moment. I think it means if you keep poking the corpse, hoping for it to wake up, all you’ll find is maggots.”

Sat at my laptop at 3 AM with tears running down my face because I'd just done that to a character I love. To THREE characters I love, actually, because Ares and Lucas are in that wreck too and none of them deserved this. But you know what? Stories aren't about what characters deserve. They're about what characters SURVIVE. And trust me when I say—Book 2 is going to be about survival in ways that will make Book 1 look like a warm-up.

It only increases as she backs up into the dark alley across the street. Sera can't help but think this is it. This is how I'm going to die. My parents will be so proud to find me shredded to pieces in a dark alley.The alley soon fills with the scent of old garbage. Her back finally hits the brick wall indicating the end of the stone backstreet.
