The session moved into its final hour with the momentum of two days of deliberation behind it and no formal resolution ahead of it, and the deadlock had the particular quality of a room that had done everything the formal process could do and had arrived at the limit of what formal process was capable of producing. If the "Drain" failed, the "Waste-Entropy" would flood back into the First-Engine, "Polluting" the Soul-Oil and turning the "Universal-Thrum" into a "Death-Rattle."

Luke interuppts. I shot him a dirty look. " So, it wasn't your mate, jeez, just asking, " Luke said backing off. Luke was obsessed with finding his mate and projected that onto me. jimmy asked joining his friend.
